What are some of the Covid-19 detection tests?

Coronavirus is a large family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans. In humans, several of such coronavirus is known to cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). As we all know the most recently discovered coronavirus causes coronavirus disease, COVID-19. The virus that causes COVID-19 and the one that caused the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in 2003 are related to each other genetically, but the diseases they cause are quite different. So, how is testing being done? Two COVID-19 tests can be performed:Virus test: Virus detection will tell you whether you are currently infected with a virus.Antibody test:Antibody testing can tell you if you have been infected with a virus before.
Antibody testing may not show whether you are currently infected with the virus, because it may take 1-3 weeks after infection to produce antibodies. It is not known if possessing antibodies to this virus can protect people from being infected with the virus again or how long this protection can last.Who should be tested? To find out if you are currently infected, you can use virus detection. However, not everyone needs to be tested. Most patients are mild and can recover at home without medical care, and may not need to be tested. The CDC has established guidelines on who should be tested, but whether or not the test is determined is determined by the state and local external icon health departments or medical service providers. If you have symptoms of COVID-19 and want to be tested, you can call our helpline number. You can also consult our medical experts online. • If your virus test is positive for COVID-19, thoroughly understand what protective measures you should take if you are sick or need to take care of others.
  • If your virus test is negative for COVID-19, it means that you may not be infected at the time of sample collection. However, this does not mean that you may not get sick. The test results only indicate that you were not infected with COVID-19 when you were tested.
  • If your COVID-19 test is positive or negative, regardless of the type of test, you should still take precautions to protect yourself and others.

Hence, maintain social distance as much as possible, wear masks at all times when venturing outside and practice personal hygiene as a preventive measure. Stay safe!
